 Aircraft Types Bibliography

A-Z of Aircraft:

'The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Aircraft', published as a weekly partwork 1981-1985, by Orbis Publishing Co, included a comprehensive A to Z directory of aircraft types in the first 13 volumes. (This series was republished in a slightly updated form under the title 'Airplane' during 1989-1993).
* Unfortunately, the second half of the alphabet was covered in much less detail than the first half. One-off types were only sparsely covered at first, then not at all.

A new weekly partwork called 'World Aircraft Information Files', published from early 1998, includes an A to Z of aircraft. Over 7000 individual entries are promised when the series is complete. At first look, the entries are based on those used for the previous partworks (see above), but with additional entries for types previously missed out. It remains to be seen whether the second half of the alphabet will get the coverage it deserves.

For further details see the UK Aircraft Magazines pages in the 'World Guide To Aircraft Magazines' section of this website.
