A glossy quarterly magazine launched in late December 2003 and covering all things aviation. The editor is the well known Australian aviation author Stewart Wilson. The magazine is features-based with large format illustrations, and photograph-based news section. Each issue has 112 pages plus covers - larger than any other locally published aviation magazine.

Subtitled 'The Defence Business Magazine'. Australian Defence Magazine is the leading defence business magazine in Australia. ADM provides informed coverage and in-depth analysis of major projects and equipment acquisitions of the Australian Defence Force. ADM focuses on the business aspects of the defence/industry relationship. Coverage of issues extends to defence industry policy and planning, technology developments, equipment procurement, international developments and related industry news.
It aims to provide informed coverage and indepth analysis of major projects and equipment acquisitions as well as commentary on policy and future directions for the Australian Defence Force, the New Zealand Defence Forces and regional defence issues. Typical contents includes: News Review, Defence Business developments, Maintenance & Upgrades, IT & UAVs, Forthcoming Events etc. ADM is published monthly except December and January. This issue is combined. Vol.11 Issue 8 was dated August 2003.
ADM also publishes an annual 'Defence Business Directory of Suppliers' and a weekly newsletter called 'Australian Defence News' (ADN).

'Aircraft & Aerospace' is the second oldest aviation magazine in the world. It has a long and revered history of incisive reportage and analysis of the aviation industry, both globally and locally. In the Year 2000 it was revitalised to keep pace with the intensifying dynamics of the industry – and to provide decision makers and other industry players with unequalled comprehensive coverage of the issues, the politics and the business of aviation. At the same time the 'Asia Pacific' suffix was added to the title.
Monthly magazine (10 issues per year), first published in 1918. Official Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society of Australia and GAPAN Australia. 56 pages each issue, with b+w and colour photos. Typical contents comprises: world news summary, Australian news, NZ news, defence news, flying techniques, gliding, 3-4 short articles. Covers all aviation activities with the emphasis on current news.
Published by Peter Isaacson Publications during the 1990s, until taken over by Yaffa Publishing circa 2000. Also associated with the ISSN 0129-1815.

Monthly magazine of modern military aviation. First published in 1996, under the title Air Force Today, as the magazine of the Royal Australian Air Force. From Vol.2 No.3 (February 1998) it was renamed 'Air Power International' and attempted to gain an international readership for its expanded coverage of military aviation. This was only partly successful and the title ceased publication after the July 2001 issue. A4 size magazine with many b+w and colour photos.

Subscription to the 'AHSA Journal' also brings copies of the concurrently issued 'AHSA Newsletter' which is an A4 sized desk-top published newsletter containing AHSA Reports, book reviews, letters, announcements, questions and miscellaneous reports as well as short contributed research items provided by members. 'AHSA Newsletter' began as a quarterly in May-June 1985. It continued quarterly until 1988. Then it became a bit irregular: 1989-1992 3 editions; 1994 2 editions; 1995-96 2 editions; 1996 1 edition; 1997-98 2 editions and 1999 2 editions.

Highly respected quarterly scale plastic modelling magazine. First published in 1976. The APMA magazine features articles by both members and non-members which cover every aspect of modelling. Articles range from model builds and technique articles through to photo essays and research articles complete with profiles and scale drawings. Printed in black and white, every effort is made to produce high quality illustrations and photos. Considerable aircraft modelling content in each issue.
All members receive 4 high quality laser printed Black and White magazines per year - packed with articles on techniques, colour schemes and conversion topics. In addition, all members receive at least 4 Newsletters per year, to keep members up to date with the latest releases, feedback, reviews & a members wants & disposals page.

'Asia-Pacific Defence Reporter' (APDR) provides news and authoritative analysis on defence issues and developments throughout the Asia-Pacific region. It is written by specialists in defence, strategy, politics and conflict analysis. It is published at the rate of 10 issues per year, with July/August and December/January combined issues. The December/January issue is the Annual Reference Edition - it includes overview articles on all the nations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Established in 1974 under the title 'Pacific Defence Reporter' but renamed 'Defence Reporter: Australia & Asia-Pacific' (ISSN 1037-1427) from the September 1990 issue. In January 2002 it adopted the present title. Also associated with the ISSNs 0311-385X, 1446-6872 and 1446-6880. Published by Peter Isaacson Publications until sold to Ventura Media circa 2001.

Subtitled The Region's Only Comprehensive Aerospace Publication, 'Asian Aviation' aims to be the leading source of accurate, timely and objective reporting on all aspects of aviation in the Asia-Pacific region. It therefore covers defence, industry, airlines, helicopters, corporate and general aviation, and also training and maintenance suppliers. Each issue also includes feature articles providing a more in-depth look specific aspects of the aviation business. Aimed at industry professionals, it takes the form of tabloid news magazine, printed on high quality paper and is published at the rate of 11 issue per year, with December/January a combined issue.
'Asian Aviation' takes it's name from a now defunct monthly magazine produced in Singapore. The new 'Asian Aviation' was launched in February 2004 as a bi-monthly, but increased frequency to 11 issues per year from February 2005.

Monthly Magazine, first published September 1977. 'Australian Aviation' first appeared as the annual 'Australian Aviation and Defence Review' in 1977. It became a quarterly in June 1979 and was renamed 'Australian Aviation' in 1982. It became bi-monthly from September 1985 then monthly from May 1990 (with only ten editions a year - January and February were 'blank months'). A February edition was started in 1996 but there is still no January edition. Currently comprises a 92 page glossy with full colour photographs. Contents includes Australian and international Aviation and Airline News, Military, Commercial and General Aviation, Warbirds, Vintage and Veteran, Aviation humour and Technical articles. Circulation 23,300 copies.

'Australian Flying'

Magazine for pilots and aircraft operators. Initially titled 'Australian Flying - Light Aircraft Monthly' (Sept 1963 was issue 8). In 1970 it was still published monthly but the subtitle had been dropped.
By 1977 it had become a bi-monthly publication and remains bi-monthly today. In it's first two decades it featured quite an amount of historical and general interest aviation features, but from about 1986 it began to concentrate more on the piloting aspects of aviation. Today each issue offers hands-on tips to better flying as well as the latest technologies, accessories and techniques, and all the relevant news that affects the day to day operation of the aviation industry.
Each issue now comprises 66 pages, covering all apects of aviation issues around Australia.

Official magazine of IPMS New South Wales. Originally published (since the 1980s) as a printed magazine under the title 'News and Views', but was renamed 'InMiniature' subsequently. From 2001 (Vol.15 No.2) the magazine has been published in HTML format on a CD-ROM.
Quarterly publication featuring high quality original research and images. Packed with interesting content, especially for modellers interested in Australian subjects. The editor is noted aviation historian Steve Mackenzie, and so the focus is firmly on Australian aviation subjects. In addition to the volume of reference articles, there are also several reviews and a report on Club activities. A magazine-only membership option is available.

'ModelArt Australia'

Scale plastic and diecast modelling magazine. First published in April 2001. A4 format, 54 pages in each issue, with 20+ pages of colour. Mix of modelling and reference articles plus reviews. Published at 8 issues per year.
'ModelArt Australia' takes over from 'Australian Plastics Modeller', which has now been bought out by its long-time (7 years) former editor Frank Morgan. 'ModelArt Australia' has a number of regular columns including "Off the Sprue", Frank Morgan's editorial, a review section, modellers showcase, "Professor Plastics Patter", "Club Corner", "Net Watch", a Readers' Letters section and a list of new and forthcoming releases. These regular sections are supplemented by modelling and reference articles. Issue One has seven articles, divided fairly evenly between aircraft, armour and cars. 'ModelArt Australia' is now the only commercially produced magazine for Australian modellers.

'Modelcraft'
[IPMS-Australia, ISSN ? ]
IPMS Australia was founded in 1964. It soon began publishing 'IPMS Australasia Newsletter', with modelling news and feature articles, which reached at least issue 22 in 1969. In 1971 it launched 'Modelcraft' as a quarterly scale plastic modelling magazine, with 12-24 pages in each issue. Much of the contents was aircraft modelling, especially of RAAF aircraft. From about October 1980 'Modelcraft' became an annual publication.
By 2005 this publication had reverted back to being a monthly newsletter under the title 'Modelcraft Newsletter'. It's function is to keep members advised of Society activities and coming events plus events within the general modelling community. The Newsletter also frequently contains articles on modelling topics.

[Australian Aviation Enthusiast Group, ISSN ?]
NOTAM is the official magazine of the Melbourne-based AAEG. Each month NOTAM includes information on upcoming meetings, historical references, new releases in the model world and aviation pictures related to Australian aviation. The AAEG was formed in 1980 and provides an informal forum for aviation industry employees, modelers, spotters and aviation enthusiasts to discuss aviation matters and participate in various activities. AAEG member Andrew Ouston also provides copies of 'Tullamarine Tales each quarter. This small publication lists aircraft movements at major airports around Victoria.
