'Aéro Magazine'
[New Fashion Media, ISSN ?]
'Aéro Magazine' first appeared in November/December 1982. It was a bi-monthly, French language, A4 size publication with 64 pages each issue. It covered all aspects of aviation from ultralights to space. To quote the publishing director, “Too often the specialist press has only been preoccupied by the technical aspect of this new industry, forgetting that men, with their qualities and faults, are to be found in the cockpit or at the drawing board. Aéro Magazine will try to let you discover the human side of the conquest of the air.” The editor was Christian Taverniers. With number 23 or 24 it merged with the French magazine 'Aviation 2000' and the title changed to 'Aéro 2000'.

'Carnets de Vol'
[? publisher, ISSN ?]
First published 1st May 1984. A news-stand publication fully covering Belgian aviation history, and also the "official magazine of the Aero-Club Belgique" (taking over from 'La Conquête de l'Air' - see below).
Until No.51 December 1989 "Carnets de Vol" carried the subtitle "La Conquête de l'Air", from is role as official A.C.B. magazine (Revue
officiele de l'Aéro-Club Royale de Belgique). However, by this time "Carnets de Vol" was in the hands of PHEBUS-EDAF in Paris. So the content evolved from purely Belgian Aviation related history & actual matters to take on more and more French Aviation matters (from roughly number 21 onwards), with only a few pages each month dedicated to Belgian Aviation matters.
From No.52 January 1990 the sub-title "La Conquête de l'Air" was dropped, Carnets de Vol becoming basically a French magazine.

'L'Aviation Illustree/Luchtvaart in Beeld'
[ ? publisher, ISSN ?]
Started publication in 1932 and went on during the war. Most of the contributors, apart from the editor, were from Wallonia (the French speaking part of Belgium), with the editorial offices sited in Brussels. Belgium was occupied by the Germans in 1940 and by circumstance the cover artwork and contents became rather German military inspired. The July 1944 cover scan shown second is one of the few neutral front covers. The Dutch language edition only appeared in 1943 and 1944. Publication ceased soon after the liberation of Belgium in 1944. The editor was Robert Wielemans. Publication paper format was rather large, the 1938 number (first cover scan) measuring 24 x 30.5 cm, and one 1940 number measuring 27 x 36 cm.

'La Conquête de L'Air/Lucht en Ruimtevaart'
[Aero-Club Royal de Belgique, ISSN ?]
This magazine was the official publication of the Aero-Club de Belgique, which was founded in 1901. The first issue of the 'La Conquête de L'Air' (only in French) was dated 1904.05.01. In 1926 the organisation added 'Royal' to it's title. A Dutch edition entitled 'Lucht en Ruimtevaart' was added later. Publication continued until at least 1978, by which time the French edition was called 'La Conquête de L'Air AVIASTRO'. The first editor was Adhmar de La Hault, a well known Belgian balloon pilot. Although a 'membership magazine', it was also sold at news-stands.
In 1984, 'Carnets de Vol' (see above) took over as the official membership magazine, but this arrangement ceased in late 1989 and currently the A.C.R.B. does not have a membership magazine.
Until at least 1926, the A.C.B also issued an 'Annuaire' (Yearbook) each year to its members, recording aviation events, competition results and flying records from the previous twelve months. These are now sought-after collectors items.
