Probably didn't reach issue 3 due to paper shortage and printing problems at the time. 34 pages in each issue, with about 100 b+w photos in each. Edited by C.G.B. Stuart.

'Airforce'

Subtitled 'The Magazine of Canada's Air Force Heritage'. Airforce is the official "house organ" of the 60,000 strong Air Force Association of Canada (formerly RCAF Association). Distributed to serving members of Canada's air force, it is also available on newsstands throughout the country. The magazine has been published quarterly since 1977.
'Airforce' is a 64 page full colour publication published four times per year, which has a long-standing policy of featuring aviation art on its covers. Stories and articles focus on military aviation in Canada, past, present and future; the proud history of the Royal Canadian Air Force; current activities of Canada's present day air force and frequent updates on developments in the aviation and aerospace industry. Regular features include a guest editorial, Royal Canadian Air Cadet news, a review section on aviation and military related books, videos and music, Association news and an always interesting "Airmail" or letters-to-the-editor section.
The editor since December 1993 has been Vic Johnson. Vol.26 No.4 was dated Winter 2003/2003. The magazine was created out of the ashes of its predecessor 'Wings at Home', a utilitarian newsletter of the Association.

Monthly civil airliner spotters magazine, launched to replace the defunct 'North American Aviation News'. First issue dated October 1987. Edited by Brian Dunn and Micheal Baker. Published in A4 size with one staple in the corner, to facilite filing in a ring binder. Main sections include: Airline and Route News, Movement reports for most, but not all major Canadian airports, Airline Fleet Update, Biz Jet and Biz Prop updates, Canadian Industry Update, Bombardier Update, DHC updates and CCAR updates. Not all sections are updated on a monthly basis, some are. Also space and time often dictate what can be run in each month. Sometimes small photos are
accomodated on the back page.

Includes feature articles by AOPA's Phil Boyer and COPA's Regional Representatives each month, as well as editorials from well known contributors from across both countries. Features the popular Warbirds editorial page by Ed Anderson, a well known aviation photographer and writer, as well as other highly respected regular monthly contributors, a Calendar of Events covering airshows, fly-ins, club events and special announcement of courses and seminars available to the flying public. Also includes an extensive Classified Adverts section. Replaced by Aviation News Journal circa 2004.

'BC Aviator'

Bi-monthly publication with an emphasis on British Columbia aviation history, distributed to the British Colombia aviation community as well to members of The British Columbia Aviation Museum. Its editor was Jack Schofield, a noted commercial seaplane pilot and artist/writer. First published in 1991 under the title 'BC Aviator' - Vol 3 No 2 was dated Oct/Nov 1993. As the readership expanded the title was changed to 'West Coast Aviator' in 1995. When expanding the magazine to Canadian national distribution in 1999, the name was changed again to 'Aviator' (see the entry for 'Canadian Aviator' below). While maintaining it's western flavour, new writings and new writers embraced the entire Canadian aviation scene.

Subtitled 'Canada's Flying Magazine Coast to Coast'. Canadian Aviator is published nine times a year. It features a little bit of everything: aviation past and present, recreation and commercial flying, fixed wing and helicopter, floats and wheels, flying and maintenance, airports and air services, and information and entertainment. Published by Pilot Press Ltd, it was originally titled 'West Coast Aviator Magazine', but changed it's name to 'Aviator' reflect it's national coverage sometime after 1998. In late 2004 (from Vol.14 No.6 Nov/Dec 2004) it absorbed 'Aviation Canada' and took the name 'Canadian Aviator'.

'Canadian Flight'
[COPA, ISSN 0008-3577]
In 1955, COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association) launched 'Canadian Flight', subtitled 'The pilot’s magazine'. The first edition was dated June 1955. The 52-page magazine was compiled by Margaret Carson (COPA founder), and Art Macdonald, manager of the Air Cadet League of Canada. The initial issue sported a colour cover and b+w photos inside.
By 1958 the magazine was bi-monthly and this frequency lasted into the late 1980s when the magazine went quarterly. In 1994 'Canadian Flight' was changed into an annual directory for general aviation and COPA membership services, and renamed the 'Canadian Flight Annual'. Some of the normal contents of the magazine was transferred to the monthly COPA newsletter 'Canadian General Aviation News' see below, which was then renamed 'Canadian Flight'.
Although principally aimed at pilots, the magazine covered all aspects of flying and aviation in Canada, and was regarded as an authoritative high quality publication.

'Canadian General Aviation News'

Monthly General Aviation newspaper launched in 1964 to complement the glossy 'Canadian Flight' magazine. Published by the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA). In 1994 the newspaper was renamed 'Canadian Flight' with the closure of that publication and switched from yellow to white paper. The February 1995 issue was the first to carry colour photos. In the late 1990s the newspaper was again renamed, this time to 'COPA Flight', see below.

'COPA Flight'

The official newspaper of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA). Originally the monthly newspaper version of 'Canadian Flight', but renamed sometime in the late 1990s. Circa 80 pages in each issue.
The newspaper also includes the monthly 'COPA Newsletter', which was first published in April 1953 under the title 'AOPA Canadian Newsletter' before being renamed the 'COPA Canadian Newsletter' in July 1953. In 1980, the title was simplified to 'COPA Newsletter'. In 1995, the newsletter was incorporated as a separate section in the 'Canadian Flight' newspaper.
A COPA 'Flight Safety Bulletin' was printed on a separate sheet and inserted in the monthly mailing to COPA members from 1967 until 1974 when it was incorporated into COPA’s newspaper. It remains a separate section in 'COPA Flight'.

'High Flight'

First published in 1980, as a bi-monthly magazine, but quarterly for volume 3 then ceased publication. 'High Flight' concentrated on relatively long articles on the RCAF, CAF and it's famous aviators. Most of the contents related to historical subjects - well researched articles or pictorial features. Illustrated with many rare b+w photos, side view markings drawings and some 3-view drawings. Tabulated individual aircraft histories were often included. Each issue comprised 40 pages, except for Vol.3 Nos 3 and 4 which had only 24 pages.

'Maritime Patrol Aviation'

'Maritime Patrol Aviation' magazine was introduced in 1988 to provide a medium for the exchange of ideas of importance to the Maritime Air community on the broader aspects of Maritime Air Doctrine and on the employment of Maritime Air Forces. Maritime Patrol Aviation is distributed to over 5200 VP International members world-wide. Published annually.
Each issue includes an article on a specific maritime patrol aircraft type, news and features on developments in maritime patrol activities and technology worldwide, plus one or more heritage features.

'Random Thoughts'

The official magazine of IPMS Canada. It was initially launched as a simple newsletter in the late 1960s, but was soon being issued monthly. In 1970 it began to be commercially printed. From January 1979 is has been published bi-monthly. For a large part of it's existence the magazine has been titled 'RT', but recent issues have returned to the original title of 'Random Thoughts'. A scale plastic modelling magazine for aircraft and armour enthusiasts. A4 size, about 24 pages in each issue, with b+w photos, drawings, kit reviews, model conversion articles, hints n' tips, wants and disposals, and other items of interest. Recent issues have introduced colour photos. Very good coverage of aircraft markings.

'The CAHS Journal'

The Canadian Aviation Historical Society is the oldest and largest organization dedicated to the celebration and documentation of Canada's flying heritage. Members receive the CAHS Journal, Canada's premier aviation history magazine, regular newsletters, and an invitation to participate in the local activities of 10 regional chapters.
The Society’s principal publication is the quarterly Journal, offering articles dealing with a wide range of subject matter pertaining to Canadian Aviation history. Stories can be first hand accounts or thoroughly researched articles by dedicated aviation historians. The magazine is of predominantly Canadian content; many little known facts of Canada’s history in the air have been unearthed by Journal authors. Profusely illustrated, often with previously unpublished photographs from both private collections and official sources. 40 pages in each issue. First published January 1963.
