Introduction

This is a survey of Danish aviation, defence and aircraft scale modelling magazines. All magazines are Danish text only, unless otherwise stated.

For other nations, check our country by country listing. An alphabetical index of titles is also available, as is a list of useful magazine shops which deal with new or secondhand magazines.

'Cockpit'
[Danmarks Flyvehistoriske Selskab, ISSN ? ]

Bi-monthly historical aviation magazine published by the Aviation History Society of Denmark (DFS). First published in February 1991. A4 size, 44 pages in each issue. Illustrated with b+w photos. Contents includes society news, historical articles, scale aircraft modelling articles, current Danish aviation, RDanAF unit histories, aircraft types in Danish service, preservation news etc.

'Dan-Mil'
[Kurlands Forlag, ISSN ?]

Approximately annual publication. First published in 1971 by Stoppel Forlag, but later changed hands. Magazine of Danish military aviation history. A4 size, 70 pages each, with many b+w photos, scale drawings, and some colour photos in the later issues. Each issue comprises a pictorial review of the past year in Denmark, the history of a Danish Air Force squadron and a pictorial feature on a Danish Air Force aircraft type - with photos and very detailed scale drawings showing all markings carried. Last issue published was No.8 in 1983.

'DC-3 Nyt'
[DC-3 Vennerne, ISSN ? ]

Magazine published DC-3 Vennerne (Danish Dakota Friends), which operates to keep the last Danish DC-3 flying. Published quarterly. A4 size, with b+w/col photos, 20 pages in each issue.

'Flyv'
[KDA - Kongelig Dansk Aeroklub, ISSN 0015-492X ]

Published monthly since 1928. Official magazine of the Royal Danish Aero Club, first established in June 1928. Covers all aspects of flying - civil and military, Danish and international, including sporting and private flying. Year 76 No.2 was dated February 2003. Editors: John Foltman 1928-1964, Per Weishaupt 1964-1988, Hans Kofoed 1988-1998, Knud Larsen 1998 onwards.

'Flyvehistorisk Tidsskrift'
[Dansk Flyvehistorisk Forening, ISSN 0109-8306 ]

Published quarterly since 1962. Danish aviation history magazine. Includes articles on old and new aircraft types, flying, biographies, museum news etc. A4 size, 12 pages each, with b+w photos and scale drawings.

'IAPA Report'
[International Aviation Photographers Association, ISSN ? ]

Published quarterly from 1978. Loose leaf A4 size pictorial magazine, covering NATO squadron aircraft in detail. Large b+w photos on nearly every page, some tone drawings. Brief text in English, German, French and Spanish. Each issue comprises photos of aircraft from a squadron of three different European air forces, plus a photo report on an Exercise or historical feature. Ceased publication late 1982.

'Luft- og rumfartsårbogen'
[Luft- og Rumfartsforlaget, ISSN 0108-4550 ]

Title means 'Aviation and Space Yearbook'. Published annually since at least 1982. Covers a wide range of aviation topics - Danish and international, civil and military, modern and historical. 208 pages each with photos. Edited by Bent Aalbæk-Nielsen.

'Nyt'
[IPMS Denmark, ISSN ? ]

Title means 'News'. Quarterly scale plastic modelling magazine. Includes branch news and reviews, features on AFVs, ships and aircraft modelling etc. Doesn't regularly feature Danish subjects. Reached No.100 in April 2003, so the first issue must have been published in 1978.

'Oscar Yankee'
[KZ and Vintage Aircraft Club, ISSN 0109-8330]

Magazine published by the KZ and Vintage Aircraft Club (KZ Veteranfly Klubben). The KZ series of Danish designed and built aircraft still has many examples still flying. A quarterly club magazine brings articles and photos of interest to vintage aircraft owners and amateur builders. The foreign members of the club will receive a resumé in English of the magazine. An annually issued list of members also includes a register of all vintage aircraft in Denmark along with a list of ongoing restoration and building projects, and the club members’ own vintage aircraft and home-builts. The Club also organises the popular International KZ Rally, which since 1974 has been held at Stauning Airport in June.

'Propel'
[Flyvevåbnets Soldaterforening (FSF), ISSN 0033 1279 ]

Subtitled 'Tidsskrift For Civil Og Militaer Flyvning'. Published monthly. Includes articles on Danish and international aviation - both civil and military, plus news and features on the RDAF. 60 years old in 2003.
