'Air & Space Europe'

'Air & Space Europe' addressed all aspects of aviation and space activities, both civil and military, with a particular European perspective. Its aim was to provide a forum for information, communication and debate between industrial practitioners, policy makers, researchers and academics. It included contributions not only from individual authors and teams but also from international organizations, both public and private. English text throughout. First published in January 1999. Subtitled Industrie Francaise Aeronautique et Spatiale. Magazine published by the French Aerospace Industry Association (GIFAS) in French and English editions. Typical contents is: GIFAS news, Industry news (company changes, aircraft programme milestones, financial results etc), Publications, Demonstrations, Distinctions and Nominations. 12 pages in each issue. Issue No. 1690 was dated April-May 2003.

'Nouvelle Revue d'Aéronautique et d'Astronautique' is a scientific and technical journal on Aeronautics and Space. It covers four major fields of activity: civil aviation, air forces, missiles and space. It also covers technological synergies between the aerospace and non-aerospace sectors of activity. It includes nine sections: editorial, points of view, notes, news, chronicle on training, life of companies, read for you, news from the AAAF (Association Aéronautique et Astronautique de France) and the ANAE (Académie Nationale de l'Air et de l'Espace). First published in 1993. Ceased publication in 1998 and replaced by 'Air & Space Europe'.

'Aéro Journal'

Edited by Christian-Jacques Ehrengardt, this magazine appeared during the 1970s, with No.17 being dated Spring 1977. A new version of 'Aéro Journal' appeared as a news-stand monthly in 2000, with the same editor and ISSN number, but published by Aéro-Éditions.

'Camouflage Air Journal'
[Camouflage Air Club, ISSN ?]

An enthusiasts publication which appeared during the early 1970's. It was a small, 13.5cm x 21 cm magazine of 32 pages. Volume 9 No 3 was dated June, July, August 1975 and covered: 13th Escadre de Chasse markings; Breguet 1100 Taon; Fokker D.XXI in Finnish service; Soviet aircraft production in WW2 and the Frog Do 335 model. It included scale drawings. No further information.

Monthly magazine published by the FNA which presents aeronautical news, aircraft flight tests, other pilot's experiences. Each month it includes information on the activities of flying-clubs, letters to the Editor etc. Issue 573 was dated December 2003.

'La Vitrine du Maquettiste'
[IPMS-France, ISSN 0150-3367]

Title translates as "The Modellers' Showcase". 'La Vitrine du Maquettiste' was first published in a small, 17cm x 25cm, format with stiff card covers. Number 1 was published in the 4th quarter (October) of 1975 and the magazine continued quarterly in the same small format up to and including number 14, in the 2nd quarter of 1982. Number 15 was in A4 format and the magazine reached at least number 47 in 1996.

A general scale plastic modelling magazine, but the contents mainly concentrated on aircraft. It included very detailed profiles of French and Belgian aircraft types. Illustrated with 3-view drawings, detail drawings, photos, colour illustrations, insignia etc. Replaced at an unknown date by a much less ambitious newsletter called 'La Lettre de l'IPMS', with merely reports club news, dates of meetings and news of the internationals IPMS branches.

'Le Trait d'Union'

Published bi-monthly from 1968, by the Branche Francaise d'Air Britain (the French Branch of the UK-based International Aviation Historical Society) and distributed to its members only. It covers French aviation history in detail, with originally researched articles of great authority. Topics featured include aircraft manufacturing sites, naval aviation, civil airlines, French aircraft types, wrecks and relics etc. A4 size, with 52-60 pages each (no advertising), illustrated by many rare b+w photos. No.211 was dated September-October 2003.
The contents is intended to be complementary and not in competition with the mainstream aeronautical press. Over time this has comprised: - Monographs, accounts, production lists, individual stories, aerodrome visit reports, open doors and air meeting reports; - Individual and collective studies born from members research, original photographs, illustrations and plans; - A "Wrecks & Relics" column unique in France, which has been updated since 1970; - News pages, small free advertisements, notices of draft studies in progress; - Civil aviation or military of all periods, in France and in its old overseas possessions.
The Branch has published a number of special issues and unusual reference works (Broussard, Vampire/Mistral, Piel, Espadon, Dorand, MS-760, T-6, Spitfire, Durandal). Since 1968, the Branch has published nearly 8,000 pages for the use of historians, aircraft restorers, spotters, model makers, aviation professionals and all fans of French aeronautics.

'Pégase' is the quarterly magazine of the Society of Friends of the Musée de l'Air. It was possible to find back numbers in the museum shop. Issue No.1 appeared in January 1976 and it is still current.

'Point Fixe Magazine'

Annual pictorial review of aviation in France. First published in 2003. A4 format, with 120 pages in each issue. The contents comprises short articles and 350 colour photographs with good captions. The goal of this publication is to share with the reader the many images of planes (primarily military, but not exclusively) photographed in France in 2002. Edited by Christian Nachbauer.
