'Koku-Fan Illustrated'
[Bunrindo, various, c176pp, ¥2000-2200]
The series of larger A4-size Koku Fan Illustrated quarterly special editions, from the same publishers as Koku Fan monthly, has not been added to since No.115, covering air racing, appeared back in 2001. Early issues in the series retained the same page size as the regular magazine. It later expanded to A4 format. The title is very apt in that the contents is almost entirely pictorial, with around 30 pages of colour photos, a 16 page modelling manual of detail sketches and the remaining pages packed with b+w photos. The only text appears in the photo captions, some of which are repeated in English.

'Military Classics'
[Ikaros Publications, 15176-04, 170pp, ¥1680]
First appeared with the Spring edition in April 2003. Purely on the basis of the debut edition, this new addition to the Ikaros magazine range has little to offer the Western aviation enthusiast that can't be obtained elsewhere. Calling itself an `all-round flashback magazine` for the military fan, it did feature a Zero special with even a "Books World" and a manga cartoon devoted to it, but the rest of the content would be of limited appeal, even less as there is no English text. The mish-mash of other features includes military film, video and DVD reviews, an arms and weaponry series and even an article on military watches.
