Remarks
Challenge Publications bought the rights to the old monthly ‘Air Trails’ magazine from the 30s and 40s (see separate entry) and hoped to recapture the glamour of this era. The magazine featured stories, profiles and scale drawings of aircraft from the 30s/40s as well as reprints of the Bill Barnes adventures and drawings from Doug Rolfe. Like ‘Air Classics Quarterly Review’, some of the paper used was of poor quality. Each issue was highly illustrated, mainly with b+w photos but there were some colour drawings/paintings. The first two issues featured a pull out mini-poster (which was dropped at issue #3). The last two issues were nothing but reprints of magazine articles from old magazines (probably the original ‘Air Trails’) all on poor quality paper. An A4 size magazine which ran from Fall/Winter 1976 to Summer 1979.
