Thr first incarnation of ‘Aviation Design’ was as a monthly, which first appeared in March 1989. The publisher and editor was André Bréand. It covered mostly military aviation with colour photos, 3-views and cutaways in 72 pages per issue. The poster on the centre pages was printed on a heavier paper similar to the cover. In March 1992 (no. 31) the number of pages dropped to 52 and the centre pages were of similar paper to the rest of the magazine. The magazine reached at least number 35, in which the editor wrote of the high costs of distribution through the kiosques and proposed a distribution by subscription only. The magazine is thought to have ceased publication not long afterwards.
