The Civil Air Patrol was established on December 1, 1941, just days before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. It is an organisation of volunteer private pilots who use their aircraft in support of full-time civil and military agencies. Today it provides 95% of the US’s inland search and rescue capability.
‘Civil Air Patrol News’ is a tabloid newspaper covering the activities of the CAP around the country. It is printed on glossy paper, with 32 pages in each issue, and is illustrated with colour photgraphs. 9 issues are published per year – Feb/Mar, May/June and Sept/Oct are combined issues. Vol.35 No.8 was dated November 2003.
