During the early 1990s the Replica Fighter Museum in Guntersville, AL, built up a collection of replica WW1 aircraft under the leadership of Frank Ryder. Circa 1994 a high-quality quarterly magazine called ‘Aerodrome Update’ was launched to report on activities at the museum. This was soon superseded by ‘The First Warplanes’, a quarterly devoted to WW1 aircraft which was being published by November 1994. Following the death of Frank Ryder, circa 1996, the organisation he had built up was closed down and the magazine ceased publication.
