The Shackleton Association was founded in October 1987 to bring together former air and ground crews and those interested in the preservation and history of the Avro Shackleton maritime patrol aircraft. It publishes a quarterly magazine called ‘The Growler’. The contents comprises Association activities, preservation news, anecdotes and memories of the Shackleton, various feature articles and a letters page. A4 size magazine, with 18 pages in each issue. Illustrated with b+w and colour photos. Issue 59 was dated Winter 2002.
