‘Warplanes of the World’ was a quarterly magazine published during World War Two illustrating contemporary military aircraft, their equipment and operational use. The subtitle was Album of Modern Military Aircraft. Each issue comprised 98 pages (10.75 x 8.5 ins), excluding covers, with large b+w photos on every page. Issue 1 had no advertising, but this appeared in subsequent issues. Covering the aircraft from the combatant nations – United States • Great Britain • Germany • Italy • Japan • Russia – the contents took the form of a series of photo essays on specific aircraft types accompanied by a brief descriptive paragraph. Known issues are 1/43, 2/43, May-July 1944 (#3) and Dec 1944-Feb 1945 (#4).
