Introduction

This is a survey of Norwegian aviation, defence and aircraft scale modelling magazines. All magazines are Norwegian text only, unless otherwise stated.

'Cockpit Forum'

Bi-monthly magazine of the Norwegian Airline Pilots Association - Norsk Flygerforbund (NF) - published in Norwegian. No further information.

'Flynytt'
[Norsk Aero Klubb, ISSN 0332-6934]

Title means Flying News or Aeroplane News. The Norwegian Aero Club concerns "everything" aeronautical, particularly civilian aviation, and is divided into seven sections. Most sections produce separate publications: Sailplane section: 'Seilflysport', 4 issues annually; Parachute section: 'Fritt fall', 4 issues annually; R/C Model section: 'Modellflyinformasjon', 4 issues annually; Balloon section, no publication; Hang/paraglider section: 'Fri flukt', 4 issues annually; Microlight section: 'Microlight forum', 4 issues annually; Motor section: 'Flynytt', 6 issues annually. 'Flynytt' caters for all aspects of powered flight, military as well as civilian. All publications except 'Flynytt' are subscription only. 'Flynytt' may be bought at any newsstand across the country and some in the other nordic countries, as well as through subscription.

'Limtuben'
[IPMS-Norway, ISSN ? ]

The member's journal Limtuben ("Tube of Glue") has been published quarterly since 1975. The journal contains information about branch events, news from the local chapters, reports from various shows, kit reviews, building reports and much more. All the material is created by IPMS Norway's members. A4 size, 16-20 pages each, with b+w photos and scale drawings. Each issue includes a feature on an aircraft type operated by the Norwegian Air Force, with full details of the markings carried. English summaries for all features.

'Luftwaffe SIG Journal'
[IPMS-Norway, ISSN ?]

Journal of the IPMS Special Interest Group dedicated to the history of the Luftwaffe in Norway 1940-45. Published in Norwegian with b+w pictures, on a 'as-soon-as-we-get-enough-material' basis. SIG Journal No.5 was published November 1997. The is no mention of this publication on the current website, so it is assumed to have ceased publication in favour the website.

Norsk Flyhistorisk Forening (NFF) Norwegian historical aviation magazine. The NFF was founded in 1967. No further information.

'Warbirds of Norway Newsletter'
[Warbirds of Norway, ISSN ? ]

Warbirds of Norway was founded in 1985 with the purpose of keeping a number of warbirds airworthy. It publishes an annual Newsletter in Norwegian/English, with each issue featuring a historic aircraft type that either flew under civilian ownership in Norway, or was significant to Norwegian aviation history. In addition to the articles about the aircraft type, each number includes a series of articles, news and association information. From Vol.10.1 onwards, the newsletters have some English text. There doesn't appear to have been an issue since Vol.16 No.1 in 2001.
