This is a survey of Spanish aviation, defence and aircraft scale modelling magazines. All magazines are Spanish text only, unless otherwise stated.

This was the Spanish-language edition of the UK originated partwork Illustrated Encyclopedia of Aircraft. It was published in 240 weekly parts between 1984 and 1988. It is not clear what took the place of the RAF squadron histories series included in the UK edition. Many colour illustrations - photos, profile drawings, colour artwork etc. |

'Aeroplano' [Instituto de Historia y Cultura Aeronáuticas, ISSN 0212-4556]
Subtitled 'Revista de Historia Aeronáutica'. 'Aeroplano' is an annual publication on aviation history, published annually by the Spanish Air Force. Its purpose is to publish those works of investigation that deserve to be disclosed and to be known by all those interested in these subjects. It is a publication of well documented aviation history and dedicated to the service of historical truth. First published in 1983. |

'Airline Ninety Two' [Grupo Edefa SA, ISSN 0211-3732]
Subtitled 'Revista de aviación comercial y aeropuertos'. Glossy monthly magazine first published in 1989. Covers all aspects of commercial aircraft operations - airlines, the aircraft manufacturing industry, maintenance companies, leasing, pilots, airports etc. - both within Spain and throughout Latin America. |

'Air Sonic' [Ediciones Albión, ISBN 0210-9123]
Subtitled 'Revista Mensual de Aviacion'. The first issue was dated Septiembre 1980. A monthly magazine mainly devoted to military aviation in Spain and Latin America. Produced in a similar format to the French title 'Air Fan', each issue comprised 48 pages - with 4 pages of colour photos and colour profiles, together with 80 b+w photos. Apart from features on Spanish or Portuguese military aviation and aircraft, it also included articles on postwar military aviation around the world. It ceased publication with issue 17 in 1984. Spanish text with English photo captions. |

'Alas Gloriosas' [Asociation de Aviadores de la Republica (A.D.A.R.), Barcelona, ISSN n/a ] ADAR is group interested in recording and preserving the activities of the personnel who served in the Spanish Republican Air Force during the Spanish Civil War 1936-39. After the Fascist victory, many Republican fighters had to go into exile for fear of reprisals, and their actions and memories were in danger of being lost to history. As the political situation improved, exiles began to return home.
During the 1970s the Asociation de Aviadores de la Republica (ADAR) was established as a support group, organised into four sections - centred on Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Murcia. The Madrid section issued a magazine called 'Icaro', while Barcelona produced the magazine 'Alas Gloriosas - Boletines Informativos'. The other two sections supplied contributions to these two magazines. In late 1984 'Icaro' appears to have absorbed 'Alas Gloriosas'. Both magazines contained features on the aircrews and air operations of the Republicans in the Civil War, as well as news on the activities of the ADAR. As time has passed and the number of surviving veterans needing support has reduced, ADAR has become more dedicated to preserving the history of that era. It continues to produce 'Icaro' in pdf format. |

Monthly general interest magazine, first published in 1982. Printed on glossy A4 size paper, with many large colour photos. Some small colour drawings. Covers all aspects of Spanish and world aviation, including commercial and military, space, simulation, preservation and sport flying. Features on Spanish air force aircraft and units, major aircraft types, airshows etc. Publisher later renamed Motorpress-Iberica, S A. |

Subtitled 'Revista internacional de Ejércitos Armamento y Tecnología'. Glossy magazine published monthly, with July-August a combined issue. Magazine covering Armies, Armament and Technology worldwide - with an emphasis on Spain and Latin America. Now in its 26th year, issue No.306 was dated October 2003. Has also published almost 60 'Extra Defensa' specials on selected topics, which include Spanish Naval Aviation and the Spanish Army Aviation Force. |

Bi-annual magazine of the Fundacion Infante de Orleans, which operates a collection of airworthy vintage aircraft. All colour publication, with 12 pages in A4 format. Distributed free to 'Socios' (partners). |

'Euro Modelismo' [Ediciones Acción Press S.A., ISSN ?]
Glossy monthly magazine covering all aspects of scale plastic modelling, with an emphasis on military vehicles, dioramas and aircraft but with regular features on civil vehicles, fantasy and science fiction, military figures and ships. Includes in-depth kit reviews, feature articles on full-scale subjects, museum visits, pictorial views etc. First published in 1992 under the title 'Todo Modelismo', but renamed to the present title with issue 70. Issue 100 was dated November 2000. |

Includes aircraft modelling and sport flying. 36 pages each, illustrations mostly b+w photos and 3-view line drawings, with some colour photos and drawings. Now ceased publication. Published fortnightly 1960-1962, and monthly from 1963. Ceased publication in 1980. |

Monthly news stand magazine covering modern military aviation worldwide. Includes some coverage of historical topics. Reached number 40 in October 2003. Has also published a number of 'Fuerza Aerea Especial' special issues on a chosen theme, such as Russian Air Power, and a few 'Fuerza Aerea Clasica' specials focusing on historical military aviation topics. |

Glossy magazine published 11 times per year. Covers the world's armed forces as they are today, with good coverage of military aviation in each issue. Issue No.1 was published in September 2002. |

Bimonthly journal of SEPLA, the Iberia pilot's association. Contains news relating to the airline industry, includes historical articles, aviation within Spain, general discussion, forums, letters. |

'Modelismo & Historia' [Ediciones Acción Press S.A., ISSN ?]
Glossy monthly magazine covering the scale plastic modelling of historical subjects - including ships, military vehicles, aircraft, figures and dioramas. Included in-depth kit reviews, feature articles on full-scale subjects, museum visits, pictorial views etc. The first issue was intended as a quarterly, but the very positive response to this publication lead to it becoming monthly from issue 2. It switched to bi-monthly from issue 38 (Jan-Feb 1986). Publication became erratic after issue 43 and it ceased publication in 1990 after issue 47. Replaced by 'Euro Modelismo' (see above). |

'Aeronautics and Astronautics Magazine' is the official magazine of the Spanish Air Force. Published monthly, it is a high quality well illustrated A4 size publication. Topics covered include current EdA activities, military aviation worldwide and also some Spanish aviation history subjects. Published between 1935 and 1961 under the title 'Revista de Aeronautica' (ISSN 0034-7647) but them changed to the present title. |

Bi-monthly(?) scale modelling magazine covering aircraft, armour, ships, cars, figures, dioramas, etc. Included a major 10-13 page aircraft modelling article in each issue, plus in-depth kit reviews and modelling features. Only 5 issues published 1982-1983. Printed on high quality paper with good clear colour photos. 67-76 pages in each issue. |
