Caernarfon Airworld Museum
(An Unofficial Guide)

What's Here:

Formerly RAF Llandwrog, Caernarfon Aerodrome hosts a small museum which portrays the history of aviation in North Wales. The airfield played a vital part in the development of RAF Mountain Rescue and air-sea rescue units, and this aspect is also fully covered in the museum. A number of aircraft are exhibited, together with displays of various aero engines - including a Heinkel He 111 engine recovered from the sea. There is also a display of the various crash sites around Wales, the Dams raid of WW2 fame and several military vehicles. Activity on the airfield can be viewed from the museum's 'Dakotas' restaurant. Pleasure flights can be booked at the local flying club - which offers a choice of 5 routes.
