What's Here:A small museum operated by the South Copeland Aviation Group in co-operation with HM Prison Service. The museum displays the history of RAF Millom and its wartime Mountain Rescue Team. A collection of aero engines and the smaller aircraft are accommodated in a second building.
The museum website features the records of the Free Czechoslovakian Air Force Associations tribute to their war dead, Gilbert J.Rothery's archive of wartime crashes and crews in Lakeland and a full list from the same author of local people killed in service with either the RFC or RAF. In total some 6,500 names to date. The pages will also shortly feature, the losses of aircraft and personnel from those Squadrons of the RCAF, RNZAF and RAAF engaged in the European theatre.
Location:On the Bankhead Estate, North Lane, Haverigg - adjacent to HM Prison Haverigg, Cumbria.
