What’s Here

Having spent more than 10 years being known as AeroVenture, this location reverted back to being called the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum during 2013.
Having been first established at Home Farm, Firbeck near Worksop, as the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum (SYAM), in late 2000 the museum moved to a new larger site at the former RAF Doncaster and adopted the name AeroVenture.
This move allowed the use of a surviving WW2 RAF hangar and other wartime buildings on the site, bringing the original collection under cover for the first time. An extensive restoration programme is ongoing. An large collection of aero engines and associated equipment is also on show, together with displays on the history of RAF Doncaster and local RAF Squadrons. The collection of the Yorkshire Helicopter Preservation Group is also displayed on this site.
The SYAM has accumulated a large number of airframes, and a significant number of these are in deep storage and not available fo public view. ‘Back lot’ tours are occasionally organised.

At Doncaster AeroVenture, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Access from junction 3 of the M18. Follow signs for the Lakeside/Doncaster Dome around the edge of the lake, and then go behind the big blue Warner cinema building.

  1. Hello
At sometime during the summer I am planning a visit to Aeroventure. As an aviation enthusiast and photographer, with a bit of notice would it be possible to view the exhibits that are not on public display in storage.

    Many Thanks
    Steve Bartlett
