The Derby Industrial Museum features an extensive aero engine gallery, reflecting the products of local producer Rolls-Royce. The well presented exhibits range from an early Eagle to a modern RB.211 turbofan. The museum itself is housed in one of the world’s first modern factories, dating from 1717. Other galleries feature many other aspects of Derby’s rich industrial heritage.

The museum is closing for at least 2 years. There is a backstage pass tour of the mothballed museum here on April 9th 2011 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/Derby
