Narrative Summary

The RAC Rescue helicopter is Western Australia’s only dedicated 24-hour air ambulance helicopter. The service is managed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and funded by the state government, with sponsorship from the RAC. The helicopter began operations in 2003.

It is not clear what EMS/Rescue helicopter capability was available in WA before 2003.

Markings

Special Markings

The RAC helicopter originally operated in an overall white colour scheme with a red cheetline and RAC RESCUE titles on the tail boom. The RAC logo and DFES logo were displayed on the cabin door. The helicopter now operates in an overall yellow scheme with dark blue stripes along thw lower edge of the fuselage and RAC RESCUE titles on the tail boom. The RAC logo is still carried on the cabin door, but the DFES logo is now on the nose.
