Victors from No.55 Squadron began to deploy to Muharraq on 14 December 1990 - initially with four aircraft and inreasing to eight by 19 January. The Victors flew 299 combat-support sorties, delivering fuel to RAF Tornados and Jaguars as well as carrier-based US Navy aircraft. Six aircraft returned home on 17-18 March 1991, with two remaining to support the Tornado squadron retained there.
