History
Previously called the ALH, the first Dhruv helicopter was handed over to the ICG at Bangalore in March 2002. The Dhruv will be used as dedicated rescue helicopters and will not directly replace the Chetak in ICG service. A second Dhruv was accepted in May 2002 and four more will enter service 2002-2007. A total buy of 12 helicopters has been officially approved.
