Operator Profile

History

Narrative Summary

The first Honduran National Police force was established in 1888. After military rule was imposed, the Police force was dissolved and replaced by a succession of para-military organisations, starting with the Civil Guard.

In 1998 the Honduran National Police force was re-established as a civil force under the Ministry of Security. The Directorate of National Preventive Police (Dirección Nacional de la Policía Preventiva – DNPP) established an aviation unit in 1999, with the delivery of two Bell 206 helicopters.

1975    Public Security Force (FUSEP) replaces CES.
28 May 1998    Policia Nacional de Honduras re-established.
1999    PNH Aviation Unit established.

Current Status

Future Plans

No further aquisitions are planned.
