Mil Mi-35P ‘Hind-F’
in Cyprus Air Command service

History

The Russian-made Mil Mi-35P Hind or “Krokodile” is currently the most proliferated export version of this attack aircraft in service internationally. This aircraft forms the frontline and most aggressive combat capability in the Cyprus Air Force with up to 12 aircraft in service and 4 more options expected. (Note: Not Mi-35E variant).
The aircraft first came into Cypriot service in August 2001, and is capable of all-weather, day and night combat operations. Its main weaponry includes the AA-9 Attacka laser-guided anti-tank missile, light bombs, 81mm rockets, double-barrel 30mm cannon and SA-18 Igla-1/S air-air missiles. The Hind can also carry a 3-man ATBM (MILAN-3) squad in its rear passenger compartment.
Eight examples were received from 2001 plus four more in 2003. At least one aircraft is reported to have been returned to vendor for unspecified technical reasons.
