History

One of the first aircraft acquired by the Cyprus National Guard was a single Dornier Do-27A plane which was used in an unarmed role to support basic flight instruction, light patrol and observation/liaison. It was obtained in Germany and registered 5B-CAA in November 1961. This aircraft was replaced by a newer Do 27Q variant using the same registration at a later date.
The aircraft type was fairly reliable, and has operated with many Air Forces worldwide, as well as serving numerous civil applications. The surviving example was privately sold in the mid-80’s.
