History
The monster Mil Mi-26Z Halo is the world’s largest helicopter and one was leased from Russia in November 2001 for one year to provide a heavy troop and utility transport role to the Air Force.
This aircraft is capable of carrying up to 105 troops or two armoured vehicles, and was used during the summer-time as a water-carrying aircraft to help fight forest-fires.
The Mil Mi-26Z Halo does not carry external armaments.
The Mi-26 was returned in November 2002, at the end of its lease.
