History
A Chinese-built derivative of the Antonov An-2 Colt, seven Y-5s were reportedly delivered in 1989. The exact quantity of Y-5s delivered to North Korea remains open to conjuncture. However, no less than 200 Y-5s – presumably also including An-2s – were reported in service in 1999. In 2004, Flight International’s annual world air forces survey listed 120 Y-5s in active service. All Y-5s have presumably been withdrawn from use due to lack of Avgas. Also see Antonov An-2.
