History

The unit was formed in 1966. From 1972 a Sección de Helicópteros was part of Grupo Aéreo de Entrenamiento y Transporte with 2 Bell 47G and 8 Bell OH-13H. On January 2, 1985 the unit was expanded and became Escuadrón de Helicópteros. Transporte Aéreo Militar (TAM) is part of this unit. The group was split in 1988 and the Grupo Aéreo de Entrenamiento and the Grupo de Transporte Aéreo became operational.
