Unit History

No.8 Squadron
(Motto: 'By Night And By Day')

This unit was first established in August 1978 to operate the AB.205A from New Sarum. After independence the unit was amalgamated with No.7 Sqn due to the lack of serviceable aircraft and crews. It later reformed to operate the AB.412 and AS.532 Cougar. Roles operated include assault, transport, battlefield support and VIP transport.
