Unit History

VIP Squadron
Role: VIP Transport

The VIP Squadron was formed in 1992 to operate three ex-civil An-24RVs and one Beech King Air. Its main role was VIP transport. Two Harbin Y-12s and three BN-2 Islanders were added not long afterwards. In 1997 the VIP Squadron was removed from RCAF responsibility and placed under the direct control of the Council of Ministers (i.e. central government). Aircraft not required by the Council of Ministers Aviation Unit were transferred to a new unit called the Transport Squadron.
