Bell 205 serial 002 at the Hatzerim Museum

Unit History:

123 Squadron

(123 Tayeset "Ha'Bell'iet Ha'Dromet" - The Southern Bell Squadron)
Role: Medium Utility/Assault Transport

During the early 1970s, a new unit (123 Squadron) split off from RSS to improve the SAR/helicopter transport coverage within Israel. The new squadron covered the southern half of Israel while RSS covered the northern half. The home base of this unit is Hatzerim. As with 124 squadron, this is probably the location of the headquarters flight, while detachments operate from several bases.
