Mikoyan-Gurevitch MiG-15bis/Shenyang F-2 * Retired *
18 Soviet-built MiG-15bis delivered in crates aboard ship on 31 January 1955, followed by 8 more in April 1955, giving a total of 26 aircraft. The first assembled aircraft flew on 7 April 1955. These aircraft were not new-build examples and reportedly shows signs of combat use in the Korean War. Some additional aircraft from China were delivered in 1956. Used for the interceptor-fighter role initially, then relegated to the ground-attack and advanced training roles. Note: As stated in references 4 and 5, no MiG-15s were actually manufactured in China, and so any aircraft described as 'Shenyang F-2' were Russian-built examples re-exported.
Circa 2000 the type was withdrawn from service and in 2002 the 11 survivors were put up for sale.
