The unit was formed as Dirección Nacional de Emergencias Sociales (DINES) on 23.3.1972, part of the Ministerio de Bienestar Social and got its first aircraft, an FMA I.A. 50 Guarani II (LQ-MBS), in 10.1972. The direction received two MBB Bo-105A helicopters (LV-LGR, LV-LGS) on 18.6.1973 and one Bell 205A (LV-LGT) on 28.6.1973. The unit got its present name in 1995 as part of the Ministerio de Salud y Acción Social de la Nación.
