Grupo Aéreo Mixto "Tcnl. Rafael Pabón Cuevas"

Role: Fighter/SAR.

The unit was formed on 22.6.1967 with some UH-12B operated by the Escuadrón de Búsqueda, Salvataje y Rescate. In 1982 the group was renamed Grupo Aéreo 51 and was divided in 1984 to form the Grupo Aéreo de Caza 34 and the Grupo Aéreo de Búsqueda y Salvamento 51.

 

 

Destacamento Aéreo 1

Role: Fighter.

The unit traces back its history to the Base Aérea No 2, which was formed on 23.7.1943 at Cochabamba. The name was changed on 24.12.1958. On 22.6.1967, when the Grupo Aéreo Mixto was formed at that base, the unit became a subordinated unit.

The unit was formed on 29.12.1958 at Base Aérea Arturo Valle/Tarija. On 22.6.1967, when the Grupo Aéreo Mixto was formed, the unit became a subordinated unit.
