Narrative Summary:
Police aviation started in 1948, when the Club Aéreo de Carabineros was formed
as a flight club, which supported police operations. The Carabineros formed the
Brigada Aeropolicial de Carabineros on 17.2.1960 as an official police unit. The
unit was renamed Prefectura Aeropolicial de Carabineros de Chile on 24.4.1972
and operates from Aeródromo Eulogio Sánchez
Errázuriz
(Tobalaba), with detachments (Sección
Aeropolicial) deployed around the country.
