Unit History


Escuadrón de Caza "Ramfis"

Role: Fighter.

The unit was activated in October 1952 with some F-51D from Sweden. It was also known as Escuadrón de Caza Ramfis, after the son of President Trujillo, for some years. The AT-6 Texans and the Vampires were used by the Escuadrón de Caza Ramfis and the Escuadrón de Caza-Bombardeos Leonidas. Last of the Mustang were only withdrawn from use in 1984. The unit was merged with the Escuadrón de Caza-Bombardeos in 1961 to form the Escuadrón de Combate.
