Dirección General de Aviación Civil (DAC)

The Dirección de la Aviación Civil was founded on 9.8.1946 under the Comandancia General de la Aeronáutica to organise civil aviation in Ecuador and maintain the infrastructure of civil airports. On the 4.12.1951 the DAC became part of the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones (Department of Public Construction Work and Communication). The subordination changed again on 12.7.1963, when the unit became part of the Ministerio de Defensa Nacional and the FAE.
