Unit History


Escuadrón de Combate 2113

Role: Fighter/Attack.

The unit was formed on 4.6.1962 as Escuadrilla de Vuelo 1 of the Escuadrón de Rescate y Salvamento 2113 with six H-41A Seneca at Guyaquil. The squadron received six H-19B in 1965. On the 23.11.1972 a new unit was formed, the Grupo de Rescate 221 to operate the helicopters, part of the newly formed Ala de Combate 22. The Escuadrón de Combate 2113, as the unit is now known in Taura, became operational with T-28D in 1968 and operated BAC-167 from 1972 until 1979, when the unit was disbanded only to be reactivated with Kfir from 10.3.1982.
