The Country

Geography:

Situated on the Pacific coast of Central America, El Salvador has Guatemala to the west and Honduras to the north and east. It is the smallest of the Central American countries and the only one without an Atlantic coastline. Most of the country is on a fertile volcanic plateau about 607m (2000 ft) high. It is located between 88° to 90° western geographic longitude and 13° to 15° northern geographic latitude and has an area of 21,041 square kilometres (8,124 square miles). The latitude and longitude of the capital, San Salvador, are about 89°11' W and 13°42' N.
