Segunda Brigada Aérea
Role: Fighter/Attack, COIN.
The unit was formed on the 4 March 1994 and consists of the
Grupo de Operciónes, Grupo de Material de Apoyo de Combate and the Grupo Base
Aérea. The Operations Group is responsible for all aircraft
operations at BA Comalapa and supports one squadron (Escuadrón Caza y Bombardeo). The Grupo de Material
de Apoyo de Combate has to manage the
maintenance of all aircraft belonging to the Grupo de Operciónes. The Grupo Base
Aérea is responsible for the security at BA Comalapa and consists of the
Batallón de Seguridad de la Base with 2 Compañía de Fusileros (Infantry
Companies) and one Batería Antiaérea (Air Defence Battery).
