Unit History

Escuadrón de Transporte

Role: Transport.

The unit was formed on the 30 October 1947 with a AT-11 Kansan from the USA. During the "Soccer War" 1969 the squadron consisted of 2 flights (Escuadrilla) mit C-47 and U-17 assigned respectively. During the next years the FAS received small quantities of new aircraft. On the 5 May 1984 the Escuadrón de Transporte was renamed Grupo de Transporte under the control of the Ala de Combate. With the number of operational aircraft began to dwindle the Grupo de Transporte was again reorganised and became Escuadrón de Transporte again under the "Plan Arce 2000".
