Aircraft Serial Numbering System(s):
Unit/Base Aircraft Code System(s):
Current
--- Historical
Serials began in 1914 with number 1 and were used in
chronological order as aircraft arrive in the Air Force. The serialling
system started again with numer 1 in 1931 to reflect all aircraft received since
General Ubico's rise to power. From 12.1955 a four-digit system is used,
starting with a 0 followed by three random numbers. (e.g. North American AT-6C
0852). This system was only used until early 1957, when FAG aircraft are
identified by a three-digit serial and quiet often these serials fall into a
pattern for each type, such as that the last two digits are multiples of the
first digit, or failing this, successive aircraft or helicopters of each type
are serialled so that the last two are allocated at arithmetical intervals
determined by the first digit. The first digit indicates the squadron number.
Coding system not used.
