![]() Geography: Guyana is situated on the northern coast of South America east of Venezuela, west of Suriname, and north of Brazil. A tropical forest covers more than 80% of the country. The country is located between 57° to 62° western geographic longitude and 2° to 8° northern geographic latitude and has an area of 217.970 square kilometres (83.000 square miles). The latitude and longitude of the capital Georgetown are about 58°10' W and 6°49' N.
