Unit History


Brigada Aérea III

Role: Observation/Liaison.

The unit traces back its history to the Policía Militar del Aeródromo Militar “Cap. Boiso Lanza”, which was formed on 24.3.1962 to protcet the recently formed Comando General. Later the unit was renamed Unidad del Servicio del Aeródromo “Cap. Boiso Lanza” (USACBL) and after another reorganisation became known as Brigada de Seguridad Terrestre (BST) from 13.12.1979. The unit got its present name on 16.4.1999. While the unit is headquartered at Base Aérea Cap. Boiso Lanza, the Escuadrón Aéreo 7 (Observación y Enlace) operates from Aeropuerto Internacional Angel San Adami in Montevideo.
