Mil Mi-2 Hoplite * Retired *
At least twenty Mi-2 obtained from Poland in 1968. Used by ? unit for the Anti-Tank/AOP/Scout roles. Some examples went to the Militia/Police. Fourteen in service 1997. Withdrawn as Bell 206 delivered. Last withdrawn from service in 1999. Four sold in USA in April 2004.

Mil Mi-8T/P Hip 
At least ten armed Mi-8T and two Mi-8P delivered from manufacturer from late 1969 onwards (some sources say 1968). Used by ? unit for the utility transport and assault roles. Some served with the 24th VPBV at Plovdiv. One example went to the Militia/Police. Withdrawn from service in 2000.

Twenty-four (21?) Mi-17-1V Hip-H (i.e. the export version of the Mi-8MT) and four Mi-17PP EW versions delivered from 1985 (or 1984). Mi-17PP is export version of Mi-17TPB used for communications jamming. Mainly used by the 24th VPBV at Plovdiv for the utility transport and assault roles, whith others based at Dobrich and Krumonovo for SAR duties. Two Mi-17PP are reported to have been converted to water bombers in 2002. Upgrade of six examples by Elbit cancelled March 2005.

Thirty-eight Mi-24D delivered June 1979 to 1984. Twelve more delivered in 1996 but rejected and returned. Used by 24 VA for the assault role. Planned upgrade by Elbit cancelled March 2005. Two sold to Cote d'Ivoire in 2003.
