P.W.S.26 Junak 
One P.W.S.26 biplane trainer obtained in September 1939 when a Polish Air Force example fled to Bulgaria following the collapse of the Polish Government. Used by the Aeroplane School at Sofia-Vrazhdebna for the training role. Date withdrawn from service not known. Reports of a number of P.W.S.26 aircraft being exported to Bulgaria have not been substantiated. Junak = Hero.

P.Z.L. P.24B Yastreb 
Fourteen (12?) P.24B gull-winged monoplane fighters ordered in 1937 and delivered early in 1938. 930 hp Gnome-Rhone 14Kfs engine. Used by the Fighter Yato of the Training Orliak at Sofia-Vrazhdebna unit for the fighter role. Majority of aircraft reportedly grounded for lack of spares by mid-1940. Withdrawn from service in 1941. Airframes still at Vrajdebna in 1942 - stored? Fuselage codes carried include 11, 22 and 33. Yastreb = Hawk.

Remaining four aircraft delayed at factory awaiting French propellers and damaged in Luftwaffe attacks on Poland in early September 1939 - not delivered. 970 hp Gnome-Rhone 14N07 engine. Used by ? unit for the fighter role. Majority of aircraft reportedly grounded for lack of spares by mid-1940. Withdrawn from service in 1942. Yastreb = Hawk.

P.Z.L. P.43 Chayka 
Twelve P.43 (not P.43A) ordered early 1936 and delivered from late 1937. Developed version of the P.23B with longer fuselage and 930 hp Gnome-Rhone 14Kfs engine. Used by the 2nd Army Yato of the Training Orliak at Sofia-Vrazhdebna and later Yambol for the light bomber/reconnaissance crew training role. Withdrawn from service in 1944. Military type number 7139. Chayka = Seagull.

P.Z.L. P.43A Chayka 
Forty-two (36+6) P.43A (not P.43B: "P43A" marked on the top of each fin!) ordered in 1938. Variant of the P.43 with 970 hp Gnome-Rhone 14N01 engine. Twenty-four aircraft delivered March-April 1939, twelve more delivered May-August 1939, while the remaining six aircraft were crated for delivery in late August 1939 but were then taken over by the Polish Air Force for use against the imminent German attack. Four P.43As were captured by the Germans at the PZL factory in Warsaw in September 1939. Two were repaired and the first was delivered to Bulgaria in early 1940. The second aircraft was evaluated by the Luftwaffe at Rechlin before being delivered to Bulgaria in October 1940. A total of 38 P.43As were actually delivered. Used by three Yatos of 1. Army Orliak at Bozhurishte for the light bomber/reconnaissance role. Withdrawn from service in 1944. Military type number 7139. Chayka = Seagull.
