CASA-IPTN CN.235

A CN.235 registered "Z3-CGP" was reported in May 2000 as being in service with the Macedonian Air Force. This is not correct. A CASA CN.235 registered ZS-OGP was used for aid flights from Rome to Pristina, and may be the origin of this report.

Sections of the Macedonian media reported during June-July 2001 that the Macedonian Air force had acquired two Ka-50 single-seat attack helicopters from Russia. These reports were denied by the Macedonian Ministry of Defence.

A batch of UH-1D Huey utility helicopters was also included in the deal. These helicopters have never appeared.
Mikoyan MiG-21bis
The Macedonian media reported on 24 December 1999 that Bulgaria was set to donate twelve MiG-21bis fighters, 12 Mi-24D gunships helicopters and patrol boats. The Macedonian Government turned this offer down, claiming that the aircraft were in poor condition.

In June 2001, it was reported in the Macedonian media that negotiations were taking place with Ukraine for the purchase of six MiG-29 fighters.
Northrop F-5A/B

Soko J-1 Jastreb
Attempts were made early in 2001 to acquire six J-1 Jastrebs from Yugoslavia, which were to be overhauled at the Moma Stanijlovic repair and overhaul factory at Batajnica, near Belgrade. This project is unofficially said to have ended because the Macedonian Air Force asked for new Fiat engines to be installed in place of the Jastreb's existing Rolls-Royce Viper powerplant.
Sukhoi Su-25KM Scorpion
On 2 August 2001, a British newspaper reported that the Macedonians were trying to acquire the Su-25KM Scorpion, a version of the Frogfoot upgraded with Israeli avionics and manufactured in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia.
