1907    German Military Board purchases it's first Zeppelin airship
1910    German Army receives it's first aircraft
October 1912    Imperial German Army Air Service (Die Fliegertruppen des deutschen Kaiserreiches) established
3 August 1914    Germany declares war on France - Start of World War I in the west
13 August 1914    Small bombs dropped from a German Army aircraft on Paris
July 1915    Fokker E I Eindecker introduced into service
8 October 1916    Air Service becomes independent branch of the Army and renamed Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte (German Air Force)
April 1917    Dedicated German fighter units achieve short-lived air superiority known as 'Bloody April' to the British
11 November 1918    Germany surrenders - end of World War 1
June 1919    Treaty of Versailles signed
10 January 1920    Treaty of Versailles becomes effective - all German aircraft to be handed to the Allies
8 May 1920    German Army Air Service dissolved
