1910    First Naval officers begin flying training
1911    Imperial German Naval Air Service established
1911    First experiments with loaned aircraft
May 1912    First aircraft received - two Albatros
1914    Construction of first seaplane base started
3 August 1914    Germany declares war on France - Start of World War I in the west
4 December 1914    German Navy forms its first seaplane unit
1916    Navy rejects Army attempt to control all air units
11 November 1918    Germany surrenders - end of World War 1
June 1919    Treaty of Versailles signed
1919    German Navy allowed to retain some aircraft for mine clearance work
10 January 1920    Treaty of Versailles becomes effective - all German aircraft to be handed to the Allies
1920    German Naval Air Service dissolved
