The main marking is displayed in 6 positions (i.e. above and below each wing, and on each side of the fuselage) on aircraft - but on fuselage sides only on helicopters, while the fin flash is displayed on each side of the tailfin. Naval aircraft also carry the title MARINE on the fuselage or tailfin, and the 'winged anchor' service marking on the engine intake/cowling (aircraft) or forward fuselage (helicopters).
